If your spec sheet says "polyester blend" without naming the partner fiber, you are leaving money and feel on the table. The two most common partners are viscose and cotton. Here is the honest comparison.
Hand-feel and drape
- TR (polyester/viscose): smoother, silkier, more fluid drape. Reads as "premium" in suits, dresses and scarves.
- TC / CVC (polyester/cotton): crisper, more natural touch, better moisture comfort next to skin.
Cost and stability
- TR is typically cheaper and more stable in price (both synthetics).
- TC/CVC cost tracks cotton, which swings with the crop.
Durability
Both resist wrinkle via polyester. Viscose is weaker wet, so TR needs gentler finishing; cotton-rich blends survive more wash cycles.
Which to choose
- Fashion / drape / sheen: choose TR.
- Everyday comfort / wash durability: choose TC or CVC.
